🔴⚫️🔴 MATCH REPORT 🔴⚫️🔴A return to Doctors Road to start the League campaign against a tough @kilcullenafc side was always set to be a good game. Kilcullen started strong, controlling the first few minutes of the game. Clane went 2-0 down, with some great play from the Kilcullen 9 and 10 to secure the opening scores. Clane stepped up a gear and were chasing their first goal which soon came from Molly Nason.Great link up play from Rebecca Devine across the box, with Nason banging in the first for Clane with a strong right foot. Half time with a change in goals to be made, Roisin Murphy moving into the backline and Aoife Phelan stepping in between the posts. The second half started quickly, and Clane got stuck into every ball and tackle. This soon paid off with the equaliser coming from Rebecca Devine after some great work in the middle of the park from Ciara Smullen and Sarah Byrne. Clane was now chasing the win. Katelyn Dunne, on the wing, did a great job on her league debut for the club battling every ball with Kilcullen’s quick no.9. It wasn’t long before the hard work paid off after Maria Healy kept pressure on to win the ball and slip it through to Rebecca Devine, finding the net for the second time on the night. Clane’s lead didn’t last long, when a free was given away outside the box, floating into the top corner to make it 3 all. Clane never gave up, closing every ball down and making runs towards goal. Hard work and composure stood to Clane, with Molly Nason putting away her 2nd and 4th for the home side on the night.Much to the delight of the side-line. The Clane back line of Dunne, Brennan, Phillips, and Murphy continued to hold firm in the closing minutes, with Clane coming away with the win, 4-3 on the night.A hard-fought win against a very physical Killcullen side.
