U12 Major Clane United vs Arlington – Match Report 09/12/17
Full Time: Clane Utd 2 Arlington 2
Competition: U12 Major Division
Venue: Doctors Road, Clane Co.Kildare
It was 7th vs 9th today Clane have drawn their last 4 matches and Arlington had lost their last 4 .
Match kick off and straight away we could see that Clane were going to be slow starters even though it was a 14:30 kick off. Arlington’s first attack and Clane’s defence was not to been seen and Paddy our goalkeeper came out to close down the Arlington attack and they chipped the ball over him and into the goal. 1-0 Arlington after 2 mins.
Clane restart and went straight up on the attack and Ben had a shot saved by their Keeper who kicked the ball straight back down to their attack and scored again 2- 0 Arlington 5 mins into the match.
Where most teams heads would go down after such a start Not Clane United we started playing football and had a number of chances to score but kept getting caught offside.
Second half was a different story Clane were all over Arlington and it was the Arlington keeper who was keeping Clane from Scoring!
10 mins into the second half Paddy kicked the ball out to Roan who looked up and saw Darragh M’ free and passed a lovely ball to him. Darragh M ran about 20 yards and passed to Darragh B’ and he took a shot low into the bottom right corner and in 1-2.
Chance after chance for Clane until Darragh M scored a bullet with 10 mins to go. 2-2. Clane continued to attack and where very unlucky not to get the winner.
Clane United Major under 12s gave their all and played really well and they are going to be a tough team to beat.
U12 Clane United Premier Team – Match Report (28th Oct 2017)

Competition: SFAI Under 12 Skechers Cup (Round of last 16)
Venue: Away – Sallins Celtic
Clane United rises to the occasion to beat Sallins Celtic in last 16 fixture of the SFAI Under 12 Skechers Cup.
Even without Shane Henry, Clane United held the upper hand for much of this last 16 Cup fixture. Even though Clane United won the contest, they fell behind to a 3rd minute goal which our goal keeper Eddie O’Loughlin could do nothing to prevent. The lads had to dig deep to find their rhythm in this damp early morning kick off and after a tense first 10 minutes, this is just what happened.
Clane United made better use of the ball all over the pitch throughout the first half, in fact, our midfield four created many good openings. It wasn’t long before an accurate midfield pass found Adam Melia on the right of midfield, who confidently struck the ball to the back of the net from 20 yards. Minutes later another accurate midfield pass through the center found Adam Fitzpatrick who found the back of the net. Adam’s excellent right footed half volley gave the Sallins Celtic keeper no hope of stopping. Clane United continued to create chances for the remainder of the half, but did not extend their lead further before half time. Clane United worked hard to recover the early conceded goal to go in at half time 2 -1 up.
Clane United applied more pressure in the second half and succeeded in keeping Sallins Celtic pinned back for a while, with the end result of another goal for Clane United from Adam Melia to bring the score line to 3 – 1. Clane sent on Alex Mooney, Adam Kennedy & Jamie Gartland to ensure Clane kept the midfield control. This was soon rewarded when Daire O’Beirne scored from in a brilliant back post header from an excellent Clane United corner.
With the game at 4 -1, the tie looked over with 15 minutes to go. Plenty of credit must go to Sallins who did not throw in the towel and scored again before the end of the game to bring the final score to 4 -2.
This was a great team performance from Clane United and the full squad was needed to deliver this cup victory. I couple of key players to mention for excellent effort are Rian O’Neill, Tadgh O’Donoghue & Eddie O’Loughlin.
The team marches onto the last 8 of South Leinster in the Cup where an encounter with either Mullingar or Birr awaits. Should be a cracking fixture.
