Full Time: Naas AFC 0 Clane Utd 2

Competition: U13 Midalnds Cup Semi Final

Venue: Naas Sports Centre Co.Kildare

The match started at a very high tempo with both teams on the offensive but it was a young bright Clane side that got their passing going with some fantastic combination football  after  5 mins Clane had already registered 2 efforts on goal which the Naas AFC goalkeeper dealt with well. Andrew Hyland, Ronan Doorey and Sultan Adoje  looked a constant  threat in front of goal again all three linked up well to create chance after chance but they were met by a Naas defence which threw themselves in front every shot.

On the 15th minute mark the breakthrough came from a short free kick outside our own box which was worked very well through the midfield and into Andrew Hylands feet who composed himself very well to unleash a 25 yard screamer. Utd’s  tails were up and they sensed this game was here for the taking and straight away they were at it again attack after attack but it left them vulnerable at the back as Naas counter attacked out numbering us in our own half they broke through on Goal only to met by Irelands finest young Goalkeeper Fintan Agnew who somehow manged to adjust and flick a shot from 8 yards out over the bar.

2nd half

The second half from Clane’s point of view was a little different tired legs meant our movement was limited in boys looking to collect the early ball and play their football  and Naas sensed this they used the width of a large pitch to stretch us and started to look dangerous and it wasn’t long before they got in down the right hand side to cut in and fire a shot low down at goal but our Goalkeeper  was on form and pushed it away again Naas exploited our tired legs on that side and created an almost Identical chance so a change was needed to freshen up  Alex Quinn came onto to replace an Exhausted Adam Heinse who put  everything into the game. Clane were still defending as they reached the final 10 minutes and as Naas whipped in a free kick saw there number 5 miss a free header. Time for another change Adam Kelly comes onto the field and clane looked like they got a second wind in the vital minutes and did they again playing out from the back this time Clane used the width which saw Liam Deane break away down our left only to be fouled on the edge of the area Free Kick up steps Clane United Resident Andrew Hyland to fire a shot in the top corner which was brilliantly saved from The Naas AFC keeper but it fell to the Feet of Alex Quinn who had great composure to tuck it away 2-0 Clane ! … Full Time Clane take two away goals into the home leg next week which will be sure to be just a fine a game of football as tonight’s was. lastly a massive thank you to both sets of players, coaches and the referee for providing such a high quality game of football it was a joy to watch and be part of.

20180203_124053

Full Time: Clane United 1 Caragh Celtic 1

Competition: U13 Premier Division

Venue: Doctor’s Road Clane Co.Kildare

Derby day for our U13’s Premier as they took on Caragh Celtic on a wet cold Saturday Morning the game got under  way and it was a nervy start from both sides but Caragh adjusted quickly and started to move the ball and dictated the pace of the game Clane couldn’t get going and it wasn’t long before they got the opener a Charging run from Caragh’s number 6 and perfectly weighted pass saw their number 10 finish it 1-0 Caragh.

Clane took to the second half like a different team the one we are more familiar with straight from the kick off a pass from James Ralph played in Ronan Doorey only to be stopped by a fine save from Caragh’s Number 1. Clane’s Tails were up just like there opposition in the first half our boys had set the pace and a goal was in the air and soon enough it arrived via a delightful free kick towards the near post which saw Andrew Hyland get a delightful flick to Make it 1-1.

Clane were now seeking a winner and looked like the better team but Caragh defended in numbers in the final few miniutes and Clane just couldn’t find the break through a tale of two half’s saw this one finish level.
